Dr. Matthew Davis is a caring, compassionate, and talented board-certified orthopedic surgeon in Birmingham, Alabama. He has 15 years of experience providing total body orthopedic care for children, adults, and seniors.
He was first drawn to a career in medicine, because he wanted to practice something that allowed him to help other people. He found his love for orthopedics, because it’s a hands-on specialty that allows him to solve problems all day while improving lives.
One part of his private practice he really enjoys is the continuity of care he can provide. When patients visit him for their first consultation, they have the option to try a variety of treatments with Dr. Davis himself before—if necessary—he performs any surgery. That’s unusual in orthopedics, because patients are usually shuffled to very specialized specialists. Dr. Davis is unique, because he can build relationships with patients and see their care through until they have full mobility and comfort—all the while providing individualized care.
He’s gained recognition in his field for his honesty with patients and referring doctors. Everyone knows they can trust the answers and advice from Dr. Davis. He always tells patients every option they have, as well as the success rates and likely outcomes so they can make decisions for themselves. He lets patients choose the best treatment options for themselves with the benefit of his expertise at their side. Whatever his patients choose, Dr. Davis supports them and provides them with or connects them to the very best care.
I don’t view my role as telling my patients what to do so much as telling them what’s possible. I inform them of the success rates of each scenario and let them decide so they’re in control.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Davis loves spending time with his wife and their incredible children. His love of sports and being involved with his kids led him to establish a non-profit sports organization (Trinity Christian Athletics) to promote youth involvement in sports as a tool to develop Christian character. He continues to serve as Trinity Christian's team physician and coaches both football and girls soccer.
